Social Science

6th Grade:
Social Studies at the 6th-grade level examines the development of human civilization from the Stone Age to the Fall of Rome. Students survey the civilizations of ancient Mesopotamia, Egypt, India, China, Israel, Greece, and Rome. In addition, we emphasize the development of geography skills that will be needed as the student progresses through school.

7th Grade:
The 7th grade Social Studies course overviews world history during medieval and early modern times. Students will explore the history and geography of great civilizations and the interaction of various cultures throughout the world. Topics covered include the fall of the Roman Empire, Islam, Africa, the Americas, China, Japan, Medieval Europe, the Renaissance, the Reformation, the Age of Exploration, the Scientific Revolution, and the Enlightenment.

8th Grade:
The 8th Grade Social Studies Course examines the conflict and growth of the United States of America from the start of the nation to the Progressive Era. Topics covered include the Great Awakening, Declaration of Independence, U.S. Constitution, Early Republic, Westward Expansion, Civil War and Reconstruction, and the First and Second Industrial Revolutions. Students will analyze these events and connect the past and the present.
