Science Olympiad is a fun, hands-on way to make science exciting and foster a passion for the subject while promoting teamwork, collaboration, and problem solving skills. The regional tournament will be held at Rio Hondo College on Saturday, March 3 and prior to that, there is an invitational event in Hacienda Heights on Saturday, January 13th. Both tournaments include all 23 events that cover all disciplines of science and range from building events, study events, and lab events. The team will meet weekly on Fridays from 3:15-4:30, with occasional Saturdays as needed.
Team members must commit to meeting every Friday after school (except on days where the coaches are not available or on holidays) from 3:15pm - 4:30pm. Team members will also need to commit to be present at all tournaments. Team members are expected to stay for the entire day of the competitions to support each other. Donations to cover the cost of materials and t-shirts are appreciated. Checks can be made to Santa Fe Middle School.
Absolutely! You don’t need to have a science or engineering background to be a parent coach! We need parents to guide practices and help prepare the students for their events.
